Through partnerships and consultation we can structure a challenging programme to bring out the best in people either as individuals or team members. All activities focus on team building, problem solving whilst catering for the needs of and supporting the individual. We aim to encourage confidence, self-esteem, and provide the opportunity to learn skills, all with an element of fun.

Programmes are tailored to your requirements and you can choose from half-day activities to residential overnight stays.

Our partnership with primary school teachers of year 5 and 6 has enabled us to develop and deliver alternative and educative programmes that reinforce the school curriculum as well as develop the children’s personal development, which enhances their over all well being.

Benefits

Teaching staff have reported higher SAT results, increase in positive behaviour, fewer exclusions, less absenteeism, increase in educational focus, increase in in-class cooperation and communication skills.

‘The most beneficial effect in the curriculum of the school in the course of the year’
Mr. J Wallace, Head of College Road Primary School

‘This organisation I feel is playing a vital role in offering children the opportunity not only to participate in activities that they would not normally have access to, but it also offers the chance for the children to create and mould their future life skills. These life skills, I believe are essential in creating a sense of belief in our children, so they can achieve whatever goals in life that they can aspire to’
Parent of Pilgrim Primary school pupil

Participation

Giving children and young people a voice to effect a change within the service they use and providing organisations with support to ensure that children and young people are included in service design, delivery and evaluation.

Formerly the Children's Fund Participation Team, the Equal Voices Team work with a wide range of children and young people in Plymouth, as well as a number of organisations and schools, to deliver services that enable children and young people to have a clear voice and representation in issues that affect them.

Programmes we worked on

Young Mystery Evaluators

A group have been working undercover to investigate and test services and facilities on offer to children and young people in the city. Examples of investigations are, Central Library, JUMP, and Parks across Plymouth. The children and young people involved have had fun whilst also making a positive difference to services on offer for Plymouth children and young people.

CAMHS PROJECT

A new groundbreaking project funded by community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. This project was led by children and young people putting their voice at the centre of new training for teachers, nurses, doctors, child and youth workers and all adults working with children and young people.

The project challenged the stigma around mental health and promoted mental health and well-being for all children and young people living in Plymouth. The project also won an award at this year’s Royal Television Society Devon and Cornwall Centre Awards for best Non Broadcast production.

Bully Busters

A group of children from Yealmpstone Farm primary school identified the need to produce a pack of helpful information for children who are victims of Bullying and also the Bullies themselves. They have been visiting primary schools in the City to seek the views of other children. The success of this project resulted in the children receiving a Dianna award for their efforts.

The Bully Busters welcome other schools becoming involved, so if this is something that matters to you get in touch!
