Consultations

  • Consultation for Social Services on the views looked after children
  • Consultation for Health Authority about new children’s hospital
  • Consultation for Health Authority about therapy services
  • Large scale consultation of children and young people in Plymouth about their lifestyles experiences – over 2000 children responded in 2006 and more than 4000 in 2007/8
  • Consultation on parks at National Play Day 2007 for Plymouth Planning Department
  • Consultation on play at National Play Day 2006 for National Children’s Bureau
  • Consultation on parenting strategy for Plymouth City Council
  • Consultation at Fun Day for All Children First regarding future provision
  • Consultation with children at the Big Event on behalf of Plymouth City Council

Conferences and events

Organised and run by children and young people:

  • Kidz Tlk Plymouth
  • Plymouth through my Eyes – workshops for adults facilitated by young people
  • Equal Voices – workshops for adults devised and run by children and young people

Additionally:

  • Support for young people to put on workshops and events for children at annual Respect Festival
  • Young people supported to run an open day for Diggin’It, a community gardening project
  • Young people supported and trained to attend the Meet the Trust Event and put questions on behalf of all children to member of the Children’s Trust
  • Young people supported to apply to Routeways to shadow Executive Board Members and project leaders via “Apprentice” scheme on 11 Million Takeover Day

Training

  • Children and young people’s involvement in training in mental health for staff in Children’s universal services
  • Training to services around participation of children and young people
  • Joint training of children and adults to further participation of young people on behalf of the Plymouth Children’s Trust

Interview Training

Children have been trained and supported to sit on interview panels for:

  • Social Services, Plymouth City Council
  • North Plymouth Playschemes
  • Children’s Fund-Plymouth Partnership
  • Children’s Services, Plymouth City Council
