No referral is required, the group is available to anyone who feels the support would be beneficial. Our gardener guides the sessions towards development of the space for service users, cultivation of produce and growth of plants. Staff are on hand for practical mental health support in an informal and relaxed setting to listen, support and signpost to additional help as required. We offer informal support alongside engaging activities to help to build supportive relationships, connections with others and skills to promote better mental wellbeing. No referral is required, the group is available to anyone who feels the support would be beneficial. In Other Words runs from our Devonport Park Activity Centre, 4pm-6pm every Monday (each week alternating between the primary and secondary groups). A space where individuals can meet similar peers, make new friends, and learn new skills. A range of on-site and community visits are offered to engage the individuals in social and leisure activities suited to their personal interests. The project aims to encourage young people to develop their social skills and build positive relationships with peers and adults. Young people are supported to play with, and alongside similar peers in social and leisure activities. The sessions run from the Devonport Park Activity Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays (term-time), 3:30pm-5:30pm. Short breaks offer families additional support on Saturdays and during school holidays as well as developing new skills and relationships for the young people. The provision aims to encourage independence and develop life skills. The project focuses on hands-on activities utilising greenhouse space, polytunnels and raised beds. Our gardener guides the sessions towards development of the space for service users, cultivation of produce and growth of plants. Staff are on hand for practical mental health support in an informal and relaxed setting to listen, support and signpost to additional help as required. Routes to Grow is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-3pm at our Devonport Park Activity Centre. Guided by an accredited Makaton Tutor, you’ll learn the key Level 1 signs and symbols, understand how to use them in real-life situations, and build the confidence to begin supporting communication from day one. Who Is This Workshop For? Level 1 is ideal for anyone who uses or wants to use Makaton to support others, including: Parents, carers and family members Early years practitioners, teachers and teaching assistants SEN specialists and support staff Speech and language therapy teams Healthcare and social care professionals Community organisations and volunteers No previous Makaton experience is required.
