Routeways in Numbers

Our Journey as a Local Charity in Plymouth Supporting Children and Families in 2024.

At Routeways, we’re proud to call ourselves a local charity in Plymouth that’s dedicated to helping children, young people, and families overcome challenges and thrive. Everything we do is driven by one belief: with the right support, every child and young person has the potential to grow, achieve, and shine.

Our Year in Numbers

This year has been one of our most inspiring yet. Together with our staff, volunteers, and partners, we’ve made a real difference across Plymouth and beyond.

  • We’ve delivered 17,681 hours of activities, skills development, and socialising for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

  • Our “Growing Together” groups for young adults with learning difficulties enjoyed 753 days of vocational and life skill development.

  • We helped 69 schools provide over 179,505 educational visits across 10,578 school trips, giving children incredible outdoor learning experiences.

  • Our Short Breaks and Adventure Breaks groups spent 1580 hours in the outdoors — a vital respite for families and carers.

These numbers reflect more than just statistics. Each hour represents a moment of laughter, learning, and connection — a child trying something new, a parent finding support, or a young person building confidence.

Why We Do What We Do

As a children-focused charity in Plymouth, our mission is about more than just programs and events — it’s about people. We see every day how small opportunities can spark big changes. Whether it’s a weekend adventure, an after-school club, or a skills workshop, we create spaces where children and young people feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Families tell us that Routeways is a lifeline. We’re here for those moments when parents need a break, when a child needs extra encouragement, or when a young adult wants to find their independence.
